Known as “the Old Lady”, the Soufriere Volcano, always active, intrigues and fascinates.
No stay in Basse-Terre without trying a hike, but beware of the weather …
Culminating at 1467m, you will contemplate the archipelago of the Saintes Islands and Dominica weather permitting.

The starting point is the “Bains Jaunes” in Saint-Claude.
The ascent takes about 2 hours walking, first takes the paved path of the “Pas du Roy” through the moist forest,
and continues from the car park of “Savane-a-Mulets” at the foot of the dome by the “Chemin des Dames”
in the savannah of altitude.

Upon arrival, the marked trails will lead you to eruptive chasms and sulfurous vapors.
Rain, clouds and wind are frequent at the summit. So plan appropriate clothes.
Enjoy a refreshing bath in the Yellow Baths on your way back.
