Carbet Waterfalls

The 1st and the 2nd Carbet Waterfalls in Capesterre

Leave the Lamateliane cottages in Guadeloupe behind you and follow us for a hike
in the Capesterre rainforest, towards the 1st and 2nd Carbet Waterfalls.
Located at 25 min from our rentals, the waterfalls are considered among the most beautiful falls in the Caribbean.

The first waterfall is the highest of the three. It makes a spectacular jump of 115 m (approx. 380 ft.) in two stages.
From the Carbet reception area, a partly finished path will take you there after a “bit sporty” hike of 1h45.
During humid weather, the mist combined with the rainforest create a strange atmosphere…

The 2nd waterfall is the most accessible one. With its height of 110 m (361 ft.), it’s also the best known one of the three.
Starting from the parking lot, the less sportive ones can approach it after 20 to 30 minutes of easy walking.
Unfortunately, since the 2004 earthquake it is no longer possible to get to the foot of the waterfall and its pond ;
the itinerary now stops at the hang bridge because of the high risk of landslides.

It is preferable to take this walk during the morning hours, thus avoiding the mist on higher altitudes
and enjoying a better view at the foot of the 1st waterfall.
